THE REUNION NOG & NATTER
The centenary weekend commenced in grand style with a Friday night event termed ‘Nog & Natter’. The theme of this evening was titled “a walk-through history”. This light-hearted social occasion included the release of the newly designed centenary jersey. The entire set of the historic jersey’s was auctioned and then re-allocated by the buyers to the player who would wear the number against Tauranga Sports the following day. The auction provided an outstanding financial result for the club. Jersey buyers had their purchase returned following Saturdays game.
The highlight of the evening was the appearance of the club’s mercurial personality and compare Bruce ‘Plod’ Gordon who wowed the assembled gathering with his interpretation of ‘a march down memory lane’. As can be seen from the photograph’s, the event was more than hilarious with visitors either spellbound or ‘rolling in the aisle’. Plod, with outstanding delivery, recounted quotations as well as comical and entertaining excerpts from the club’s Minute Books over the years.
No-one will ever forget the most entertaining evening in the club’s history.
